about

SIMPLE THOUGHT

Taken from the upcoming debut release of rising jazz star Michal Martyniuk’s album “Nothing to Prove", "Simple Thought" is a tone poem to simplicity itself. Kicking off with a ruminating yet catchy repeated bass riff that builds to a complex and satisfying B section, “Simple Thought” is perhaps the album's most accomplished composition, with plenty for avid jazz fans to get excited about. Saxophonist Jakub Skowronski keeps things simple with his plaintive toned Soprano matching Michal’s restrained piano playing and the band as a whole sound as if they’d been playing Michal’s music for years. The fact that Michal only pulled this band together and recorded the whole album over just a few short days earlier in 2018 makes this first single “Simple Thought” the perfect opening song to an album full of life and promise.
